HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

 VALENTINE, VALENTINES, VALENTINES’ or VALENTINE’S?

How do we actually write a “greeting” on February 14?

The holiday that falls on February 14 is named after Saint Valentine.  That “day” has a direct connection with him.  It is his day, hence the possessive.  And since there has been only one of him, it’s a singular.

Singular possessive noun uses an apostrophe () and the letter “s” at the end of the word to take the possessive form.

So, “Happy Valentine's Day” is the correct spelling.

But, if we omit the word “Day” in that greeting, I think we should only say “Happy Valentine!”  What do you think?

SSso, ganun nga kaya iyon?
